竹斑蛾,属鳞翅目斑蛾科,是楠竹的主要害虫之一.近几年来我区桃江、益阳、安化等县都有发生,受害面积近1万亩.幼虫除危害楠竹外,还危害刚竹、黄杆竹、水竹、苦竹等.初龄幼虫啃食竹叶成膜网状,三龄后可将竹叶吃光,严重影响竹林的生长及翌年出笋量,连续受害的竹林可成片枯死.1976年益阳县金猫山大队有500多亩竹林受竹斑蛾危害,1977年出笋量和竹笋质量大大下降,退笋率80%以上.
