Two new saltwater-proof watercraft locks in the Netherlands, the Phillip Bar Lock and the Oyster Dam Lock, will be put into operation this year. The upper and lower sluice chambers are each constructed with a 1300-meter-long outer-pool equipped with navigation equipment. In order to prevent a large amount of salt water from invading and reduce inland river fresh water escape, two saltwater regulating reservoirs were set up on the side of the ship lock on the basis of the original “complete displacement method”.
