Steitz, the American company that originally made fortunes for making wagons, built the first “horse-drawn carriage” in 1902 - a power-driven vehicle. In 1904 the first gasoline-powered vehicle was built. This was a car with two cylinders, sixteen horsepower (see below). In the same year, Studebacher Company established the first large-scale modern automobile factory in the United States. Later Ford Motor Company is famous for making expensive cars.
