The new antenna developed by the Japan International Telegraph and Telephone Corporation’s Development Laboratory consists of three reflectors (a spherical primary reflector and two secondary reflectors) and a horn antenna. In addition to controllable beam characteristics, the new antenna features multiple beamforming capabilities, compensation mechanisms and optimal electrical characteristics. When using conventional Cassegrain antennas to track satellites, great parabolic main reflectors must be controlled with great precision. For example, with the International Telecommunications Satellite Standard Type A earth station, a main reflector with a diameter of about 30 meters and a weight of about 400 tons should be used at a height above 0.01
