按照“带动全省、辐射华南、影响东南亚”的现代化大都市和“适宜居住、适宜创业”新的广州城市定位,以及满足即将于2010年举办的第16届亚运会的需要,广州市于2006年编制完成了“广州城市交通发展纲要(草案)”。新制定的“广州城市交通发展纲要(草案)”确定了广州交通发展总体战略将以海陆空立体交通为主旨,以城市路网和轨网为支撑,积极构筑以轨道交通为骨干、常规公交为主体、多种方式相协调的客运交通体系。并明确了以打造珠三角枢纽,强化区域辐射能力;以构建双快体系,支撑城市空间发展;以整合交通系统,优化交通模式结构的三大战略任务。随着新的“广州城市交通发展纲要(草案)”逐步实施,这些路网、轨网、交通骨架的建设不仅为广州城市的扩展和延伸起到极大的推动作用,也将为周边社区的建设和升值产生积极的催化效应。
