一方面,关于历史发展的规律性,传统的历史决定论认为规律的必然性是绝对的,而拉布里奥拉则主张历史发展的规律处于生成中,是必然性和偶然性的辩证统一;关于历史发展的主体,传统的历史决定论认为现实的个人只是历史的旁观者,而拉布里奥拉则意识到具有主观能动性的个人是历史发展的真正的主体;在对历史进程的理解上,传统的历史决定论认为描述历史发展的因素是孤立的或一元论的,而拉布里奥拉则主张历史是一个有机的、统一的整体。另一方面,反历史决定论者否定历史规律的存在,拉布里奥拉针对他们的理由进行了逐一地批判。因此,拉布里奥拉的辩证的历史观对传统机械的历史决定论和反历史决定论实现了双重的超越。
