Sam Webb is a famous American activist who has been the chairman of the United States Communist Party since 2000. He believes that there is no universal socialist road and socialist model in the world. The socialist road of violence basically will not work in the United States. The transition to socialism in the United States can not be accomplished in one move. The road is still long and requires going through three stages: opposition to the far-right forces, weakening of monopoly capital and realization of socialism. He called on members of the Communist Party of the United States to pay more attention to transcending the ideological differences with the democrats, liberals and other left-wing allies, be good at seeking common grounds while reserving differences, and establish a broad political coalition. After serving as chairman of the United States, he guided the United States to adopt a more open stance and presided over the discussions on “revisiting socialism ” within and outside the party. Sam Webber visited the Institute of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in December 2006 and exchanged views with Cheng Enfu, Dean of the Marxism Institute, on a series of issues including the development of the communist party of the United States and socialism with Chinese characteristics. Weber’s point of view may not be entirely correct, but the voice of the Communist Party chairman sent out from the most capitalist country still has some reference value and reference value for us.
