Objective To investigate the influence of personality traits on the emotional status of patients with coronary heart disease. Methods A total of 769 CHD patients were surveyed by using the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and the Concise Concise Mood Questionnaire, and the results were compared with those of the national norm and normal norm. Results The score of neuroticism and disguise of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire in CHD patients was significantly higher than that of the national norm (P <0.01). The concise concise mood questionnaire scores and the negative emotion scores of stress, depression, anger, fatigue and confusion were significantly higher (P <0.01), while the score of positive emotional energy was significantly lower than that of normal group (P <0.01). The overall emotional status of patients with coronary heart disease was significantly negatively correlated with the neurotic and psychotic dimensions of personality and positively correlated with the introversions and extroversions and the disguise dimension. The personality and internal-external dimensions of personality of patients with coronary artery disease entered the regression equation of overall emotional status. Conclusion The personality, neuroticism and extroversion dimensions are the important factors affecting the emotional disturbance in patients with coronary heart disease. The negative emotions of patients should be intervened during clinical treatment so as to achieve the goal of management and control of coronary heart disease.
