本文主要论点如下:(1)不是哲学、科学、历史学,而是神学,可以研究艺术的问题。(2)从神学观点看,上帝从无创造万物,绘画创作则是具体而微地从无到有,因此绘画体现了自然(上帝)的创造力,但绘画创作决不能象上帝造物那样完美。(3)创造和创作过程的基本规律是从无转化为有以及赋予存在以形式。(4)在存在和形式之间,形式有其主动性、能动性,并决定存在;因此在绘画创作中,形式决定了内容。(5)艺术中的美与现实生活无关,与作品主题无关,它只表现为形式上的完整、和谐,特别是对上帝、精神的领会或冥想;因此美学不能涉及创作动机、原因的考察,只能指出艺术形式在反映上帝、精神时所给予人的喜乐。(6)绘画作品的美,只有画家本人才能具体领会,公众对它无法理解。至于哲学家、艺术史家、小说家有关画家和绘画作品的论著或写作,以及公众对绘画作品的判断,都因为只纠缠在主题、内容上,并不涉及形式,所以不曾接触到艺木本身,而且摧毁了艺术魅力。(7)现代绘画(按指西方反动资产阶级的“现代派”绘画)则是通过抽象形式,掌握艺术中形式的能动作用,从而对上帝的创造力有新的体会;应肯定现代绘画中宗教性的创造性,进而肯定现代绘画。
