委婉语是人们为了交际的成功而进行的一种婉转语言表达的手段。国内外学者分别从语义学、语用学、社会语言学、心理语言学、修辞学等角度研究委婉语,此外,随着认知语言学的出现,也有许多从关联角度研究委婉语的研究。Verschueren提出的顺应理论也对委婉语的研究起到积极的推动作用,但这些都缺乏普适性,没能真正解释委婉语产生的机制。杨平教授(2001)提出的关联顺应模式将以认知为基础的关联论和以顺应为核心的顺应论连接起来。本文试图以这一关联顺应模式来解释委婉语这一语言现象。
Euphemism is a kind of tactful language expression that people make for the success of communication. Scholars at home and abroad have studied euphemism from the aspects of semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics and rhetoric. In addition, with the advent of cognitive linguistics, there are many researches on euphemism from the perspective of association. Adaptation theory proposed by Verschueren also played a positive role in the research of euphemism. However, these studies lacked universality and did not really explain the mechanism of euphemism. The model of association and adaptation proposed by Professor Yang Ping (2001) links cognition-based theory of association with adaptation theory. This article attempts to interpret the linguistic phenomenon of euphemism in this context of association.
