The successful visit to China by U.S. President Clinton in late June has brought a new upsurge to the scientific and technological cooperation and exchange between China and the United States. Recently, our correspondents conducted an exclusive interview with Mr. Bai Ruili, Counselor for Science and Technology of the U.S. Embassy in China, on the cooperation and exchange of science and technology between China and the United States. Counselor Bai Ruili first happily recalled the exchange of science and technology between China and the United States after Mr. Deng Xiaoping visited the United States. On January 31, 1979, during his visit to the United States, Deng Xiaoping signed an agreement on scientific and technological cooperation between the United States and China with President Carter.
