《家累》是一幅描绘世俗生活题材的画作。此开图绘了一位男子正束手缚脚地拉车,车上坐着二位女子和二位孩童。车前端所坐女子一手持绳,另一手执竹枝欲鞭打拉车男子。男子双手紧握车绳.头及身体稍向右偏,似乎在躲避主妇的鞭打。车中还坐着一位更年轻的女子,正在埋头缝纫衣物。二名幼童坐在车后端,探身向外玩耍车边悬挂的玩偶与葫芦。车上还放置着竹筐等杂物。在中国古代社会,男尊女卑是家庭与社会常态,但黄慎此开《家累》似乎展现了家庭生活的另一面。
