This article is from Harvard Business School three well-known experts and scholars for many years of Chinese management education research results, authorized by the three authors, “Manager” magazine exclusive issue in mainland China. China’s management education needs to go its own way: to build a world-class institution, faculty, facilities and courses Few people in China now experience the pre-1949 capitalist society. Most people acquire skills in a country-dominated economy (economic reform in the 1980s and 1990s only started to reduce the state-owned economy), leaving them with a lack of a clear model of business organization and the lack of appropriate management tools to cope with change. In many ways, China also lacks the ability to be a leader in an increasingly global economy. Specifically, the transformation poses a major challenge to Chinese companies’ capabilities in key areas such as strategy, sales and marketing, financial reporting and control, and human resource management.
