关於苏轼词与音乐的关系,与苏轼同时或稍晚一些的北宋时人,大都认为苏词多不合音律。《苕溪渔隐丛话》前集卷四十二引《遁斋闲览》范正敏曰:‘子瞻之词虽工,而多不入腔,盖以不能唱曲耳。’[一]吴曾《能改斋漫录》卷十六引苏轼门人晁补之曰:‘东坡词,人谓多不谐音律。然居士词横放杰出,自是曲子中缚不住者。’[二]李清照《论词》也批评苏词‘皆句读不葺之诗耳,又往往不协音律。何矣?盖诗文分平仄,而歌词分五音,又分五声,又分六律,又分清浊、轻重。’[三]
