The Ferderber Gold Mine, owned by Belmoral Mines Ltd., is located in Bourlamaque, northwest of Quebec, about 10km northeast of Vald’Or. This area is in the south of the Archean Abitibi greenstone belt. The main lithologic units are the Malartic group and the Pontiac group. The Malartic volcanic rock is subdivided into two subgroups: the lower Malartic group in the north, the ultramafic and basalt flow, the upper Malartic group in the south, which is composed mainly of basalt and andesite. Most of the gold mines in the Vald’Or region occur on the Upper Malartic Group, turning east-west and steeply vertically steeply.
