The authors obtained 12 new flavonoids from the ether-soluble part of the root of Muntigia calabura. Of these, 7 flavannes, 3 flavonoids and 2 bis-flavanoids. Their structure was determined by spectroscopic methods. These compounds have cytotoxic activity against P-388, in which the activity of flavans is higher than that of flavonoids, and some flavonoids with similar structure are also selective for many kinds of cancer cells. Extraction and separation methods: The dried plant roots (7.3 kg) were fully extracted with methanol at room temperature and distilled under reduced pressure to give a residue (600 g). Add 200 ml of methanol and 3 L of water. It is then extracted with ether. The ether layer was finally evaporated to dryness (65 g).
