山西省太谷县自1959年开始有计划的对地方性甲状腺肿进行防治,五年来取得显著效果,发病率逐年下降,控制了新病例的发生。1959年太谷县地方性甲状腺肿患病率为1.51%,防治后逐年下降为0.52%、0.40%、0.17%,至1963年已下降至0.09%。太谷县窑子公社原为全县患病率最高的公社,1959年时该社患病率为19.35%,防治后逐年下降为11.79%、4.16%、1.53%、1.57%。预防方法为全县普遍采用1:5,000的碘化食盐,其配方为碘化钾0.023份,碳酸钠0.103份,碳酸镁0.658
Taigu County, Shanxi Province has been carrying out prevention and control of endemic goitre since 1959 and achieved remarkable results over the past five years.
