第四,百家争鸣的政策与知识分子的关系问题: 执行知识分子政策,在于充分动员和发挥知识分子的力量,为社会主义建设服务。提倡“百花齐放,百家争鸣”的政策,“就是要我们在文艺工作和科学工作方面,也把一切积极因素调动起来,更好地为人民服务,为繁荣我国的文学艺术而努力,为使我国的科学工作赶上世界先进水平而努力”。(陸定一:百花齐放,百家争鸣)由此可知,这两个政策的基本要求是一致的。因此,在提倡和实行“百花齐放,百家争鸣”的政策的时候,必须坚持党对知识分子的政策,在全面地贯彻执行知识分子政策的时候,必须有力地推行“百花齐放,百家争鸣”的政策。应当把两者密切地结合起来,不要把两者人为地割裂开来。

Advocating the policy of “letting a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thought contend” means “we want to mobilize all positive factors in literary and art work and scientific work, serve the people better, work for the prosperity of our literature and art, and make our science Work to catch up with the world’s advanced level and work hard. ” (Lu Dingyi: Hundred Flowers bloom, a hundred schools of thought contend) It can be seen that the basic requirements of these two policies are the same. Therefore, when advocating and implementing the policy of “letting a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thought contend,” we must uphold the party’s policies on intellectuals. When implementing the policy of intellectuals in an all-round manner, we must vigorously promote the policy of “letting all flowers bloom and one hundred schools of thought contend.” The two should be closely linked, and the two should not be artificially separated.
