近阅中华书局《中国古籍文献拍卖图录年鉴》,翻至第5页,看到《薛大烈嘉庆十五年奏折》,眼睛忽然一亮。该书虽未著录其籍贯,但是名叫薛大烈的清乾嘉时将军,只有一人,他就是兰州人,其手迹世所罕见,真是“众里寻他千百度,蓦然回首,那人却在灯火阑珊处”。按下薛大烈不表,先说《奏折》。2004年5月17日,中国嘉德国际拍卖有限公司春季拍卖会将其以7700元拍出,编号为“嘉2004．5-2436”拍卖品《薛大烈嘉庆十五年奏折》。此奏折纸本,6面,长70厘米,高21．3厘米,恭楷书写。兹引录原文如下:
