Japan CLEA recently developed a new experimental animal that can replace the closed group, that is, MCH (multi-cross hybrid) mice. This MCH mouse will be a genetically and microbiologically controlled, ideal laboratory animal for validation and testing. MCH mice are quaternary hybrids (pictured) generated from 4 inbred ICR mice (designated A, B, C, D, respectively). Inbred lines A and B, C and D were first bred as hybrids AB and CD, respectively.
