The components of the Brazilian rubber seeds were analyzed and the net fiber, amino acids and mineral contents were determined. Antitrypsin activity, cyanide, phytic acid and tannin contents of seeds were analyzed in detail. The kernel (dry basis) average composition was determined to be 21.5% crude protein, 50.2% crude fat, 6.5% crude fiber, 3.6% ash, and 18.2% carbohydrates. The range of amino acid content was analyzed and the content of lysine, isoleucine and threonine was less than that of reference protein (NAS) and (NRC). Seed kernel trace amount, but less calcium and phosphorus content. Fresh seed kernels contain hydrocyanic acid (164 mg / 100 g dry weight) and most of the cyanide disappears after storage and cooking. Phosphate (37.5% of the total phosphorus) content is relatively high, may further intensify the contradiction caused by the low phosphorus content of the seed, resulting in extremely uneven calcium and phosphorus. No antitrypsin activity or tannin was detected in kernels. Because rubber seeds contain anti-fertility factors and difficulties in collection and storage, it is not realistic to use them as a human food under normal conditions.
