In many patients with pre-eclampsia, there is a system of renal vasopressors (renin and its stroma angiotensinogen, alpha 2-globulin, and the active product angiotensin II synthesized by them). In the early years, Dexter et al.’s hypothesis that preeclampsia was caused by excess renin did not recognize that there was a significant increase in renin during normal pregnancy. Determination of renin activity in the blood circulation, the impact of changes in the concentration of renin and its matrix, the results obtained are inconsistent or even the opposite. However, women with hypertensive and albuminuria in the third trimester had a significantly lower plasma renin concentration than their normal counterparts during the third trimester of pregnancy.
