Currently, in the East China Sea, a large-scale earthquake is expected to occur. In order to forecast this earthquake, a large number of earthquakes, crustal deformations and other kinds of observation networks have been set up in the East China Sea and the Izu Peninsula. Seismic and volumetric strain gauges in these observations are transmitted to the Agency for monitoring. When these data exceed a certain standard and anomalies occur, a decision meeting will be held to confirm whether or not the precursor anomalies in the “Tokai Earthquake” are abnormal. The detection capability of these networks and the data of each observation point are reliable
