From 1992 to 1994, we conducted a study on the development and management model of oceanic polymetallic nodules (a project funded by the National Oceanic Association). We have a preliminary idea for the shape of deep-sea mining companies in the future. The results of the study are briefly described below. First, the main ideas China’s seabed mining area is located at 7° to 13° latitude north latitude and 138° to 157° west longitude. The total mining area is about 21,000 km2. The depth of the mining area is 4,800-5,200 meters.
