美国Rolltronics公司开发的FAS witch技术,试图用MEMS技术来取代目前液晶面板中的TFT。该公司利用这一技术来驱动电泳显示器获得成功,05 年5月在美国召开的SID 2005会议上,Rolltronics演示了这一显示器。 FAS witch与TFT相比有可能实现低成本大批量生产。其优势在于:①无需昂贵的真空制膜设备;②超净室清洁度要求比TFT低2-3个量级;③背面薄膜基板可采用卷装进出(roll to roll)方式,而降低成本。其制造成本目标是TFT 基板的1/10。至于可靠性问题,现已确认即使把单个器件进行127万次开关操作也没问题。Rolltronic公司计划在3年后批量生产,力图以基于MEMS技术的FASwitch取代TFT器件。
FAS witch technology developed by the United States Rolltronics company, trying to use MEMS technology to replace the current TFT LCD panel. The company used the technology to drive successful electrophoretic displays, which Rolltronics demonstrated at the SID 2005 conference in May 2005 in the United States.
