“卖”字常挂在戏曲演员的嘴边。甲将主演一出新戏,熟人乙会亲切地凑近相问:“您打算‘卖’点什么?”这里的“卖”是动词,大体相当于“炫耀”。又比如,某些徒具虚名的演员在台上做戏,台下的同行却不住地摇头,说他(她)的玩意儿“不够一‘卖’”。这里的“卖”是名词,是指以技巧使观众满足的一种定量。以上两例的“卖”,由于进入了具体的艺术创造,因此或多或少被披上温情脉
