我们在进行变价稀土的研究中经常要合成SmI_2,利用金属钐和碘化汞在高温高真空条件下使其固相合成。在该过程中三碘化钐是个中间过渡状态,最终转化为SmI_2,这样合成的SmI_2中是否含有SmI_3?钐的价态测试,因而是一个重要环节。我们曾用X-射线分析法进行分析。该法精确度不高,若SmI_3的含量在1%以下时,就测不出它的准确含量。用重量法分析时,是以SmI_2 的含量为100%为前题的。若含有SmI_3时则不能进行分析。用差热分析测
We are often in the study of rare earth elemental synthesis of SmI_2, the use of metal samarium and mercuric iodide in high temperature and high vacuum to make it solid phase synthesis.
