中国画《儿子》的创作,是在中国人民解放军建军65周年之际完成的。这样的题材,也是我参军40多年最为熟悉的生活。 我也曾多次上舰、出海、上岛。舰上的水兵,坚守战位,风行海上,个个生龙活虎,都有顶天立地无往不胜的气慨。然而也就是这些水兵,与全体解放军指战员一样,在乡亲父老面前,则是听命父母的儿子,永远是个儿子。元帅、将军、士兵,都应当是人民的儿子。陈毅元帅在他的诗中这样写道:
