话剧《风雪夜归人》写于四十年前的一九四二年,当时已接近于抗日战争的后期。在这之前我已经写过的两个剧本都是表现抗战题材的。 《风雪夜归人》的剧情和主题都与抗战没有关联。虽然当时的国民党反动派钳制舆论、镇压民主运动日益专横;禁书禁戏,逮捕抄杀,形势十分险恶,但我避开了现实题材并不是由于政治的原因,而是自己在生活当中进行了较长时间深入思考的结果。
