包装工程作为一个新兴的多学科交叉的综合性专业，在我国开办时间不长，然而发展速度却异常之快，就专业本身发展状况来看，还处于成长壮大阶段。还需去粗取精，不断完善。全国多数工科院校都将包装工程专业设在机械教学系办学，而现在的办学模式，不但在机械系没有兼容性，而且毕业生就业的适应性也很差，这些对包装工程专业的发展是很不利的。本文针对这种状况探讨一种新的办学模式，既能与机械系办学兼容，又能培养适应市场需要的通用型人才。
