In the past ten years, the domestic “PX” projects have been frequently reported in newspapers and become the subject of controversy, and even led to many mass incidents. In some common people’s minds, “PX” is no longer the chemical name of paraxylene, but synonymous with “poison” and “dangerous.” What is the hidden danger of a “PX” project, or is it safe and secure? What opinions do experts express? What to judge? Start with an expert discourse text in a newspaper and try to use a combination of James Paul Gee Discourse analysis to examine how “anti-PX” and “very PX-sent” experts achieve their task of constructing discourse, and point out the role of the “discourse dispute” within the “PX” Analyze and contrast the practical logic of expert discourse “rhetorical construction ”, and explore the social influence behind discourse by combining the specific situations of texts.
