本文概述了中国历史上对外来文化兼容并蓄的若干片断 ;指出处来文化能否在中国生根 ,关键在于它能否适合中国政治社会的需要 ,以及与中国传统文化相融合。文章论述了兼容并蓄传统对于建设中国现代文化的重要意义 ,并就如何处“中西”、“古今”关系问题提出有关主张 This article outlines several segments of Chinese history that are compatible with foreign cultures. It points out that whether a culture can take root in China lies in its suitability for the political and social needs of China and the integration with Chinese traditional culture. The paper discusses the importance of inclusive tradition in building Chinese modern culture and puts forward some suggestions on how to deal with the relations between “Western” and “ancient and modern”
