The isochroman quinoline derivatives isochroman [4,3-b] quinoline (2) and isochroman quinoline (2) were obtained by Friedlender condensation of isochromanone-4 (1) 9,10-Methylenedioxyisochroman [4,3-b] quinoline (3). A series of cinchonic acid analogs (4a-e) were obtained by Pfitzinger reaction of 1 with a series of isatin. These compounds are structurally similar to the antiinflammatory drug Sinfen, in which the esterification product 7-ethoxycarbonyl-9-methylisochroman [4,3-b] quinoline (5) New Sinfong similar.
