The papaya pollen vitality, pollen tube growth and pollen storage were studied. On a drop of modified Brewbaker medium, the temperature is 22-26 ° C and the pollen germinates naturally. Two major stains were able to estimate the pollen viability that is closely related to the pollen germination rate. The time from pollination to ovule penetration was 25 hours at 28 ° C. At 5 ° C, it is impossible for pollen to germinate in the petri dish, whereas at 40 ° C the pollen tube grows slowly. Pollen stored at -18 ° C in a freezer can be successfully stored for 6 months. In winter there is almost no available pollen in the coastal areas of Israel, so storing pollen in winter seems to be an effective measure to ensure fruit rest.
