阅读能力是语言能力的重要标志之一。英语阅读能力是指学生不仅能顺利阅读并且能正确、全面理解所阅读的材料。词汇、理解和速度是英语阅读技能的三个基本要素,而理解是阅读的中心环节,它要求学生进行积极的思维,对材料表达的思想、阐明的观点以及遣词造句、布局谋篇等进行分析从而对全文获得最完整的理解。学生养成—个什么样的阅读习惯,除了自身因素以外,很大程度上取决于教师平时在阅读中对他们的指导。目前,教师在培养学生阅读能力上主要存在这么几个问题:1.不重视非英语专业学生阅读能力的培养,对学生要求过低培养学生阅读能力是英语教学的主要内容。但很多教师对此认识不足。他们认为既然是非英语专业,要求就不必很高,只要能了解大概的意思就足够了。因而对学生的要求仅仅是会翻译课文,会做课后习题等。2.教师本身缺乏阅读能力
