本文认为，从文化的角度，通过家族史的变迁，在历史的痼疾与现实的谬误中，反思百年历史，反思中华文化，思考民族命运，即再启蒙，是《白鹿原》立意之本；而写出一个民族文化环境中的人的生活、人的历史，写出了礼教吃人、政体腐败、民众不民的悲剧境遇，再举反封建的大旗，进而透示出中华民族迈向现代化征程漫漫，是《白鹿原》的核心思想，也是《白鹿原》撼人心魂之所在。
