According to a survey conducted by the Japan Atomic Energy Society, as in 1982, the average capacity factor and average utilization factor of Japan’s 25 nuclear power plants remained at 70% or higher in 1983. Every year, Japan conducts periodic inspections for every nuclear power plant for 3-4 months. This shows that achieving an annual average capacity factor of 70% is actually entirely possible. Japan obtained an average capacity factor of 70% for two consecutive years, indicating that Japan’s nuclear power generation has achieved significant improvements in reliability. Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Power Industry are proud of this achievement
