本文以系统功能语法为指导,从语言三大纯理功能中的人际功能出发,对一则推销信进行言语功能和语气的分析,观察发话者如何判定自己与受话者间的社会距离,以及发话者如何运用语气系统,对自己的服务进行推销。最后,笔者根据由以上分析总结出的翻译准则来指导该推销信第一段的翻译,以期在译语读者中产生相同的读者反应,实现推销信的社会目的。
This paper, guided by the functional grammar of the system, analyzes the speech function and tone of a sales letter from the interpersonal functions of the three major functions of the language, observes how the speaker determines the social distance between himself and the receiver, and How callers use tone systems to market their services. Finally, the author guides the translation of the first paragraph of the sales letter according to the translation criteria summarized above, with a view to generating the same reader response in the target language readers and realizing the social purpose of marketing letters.
