翻译实践中,注释是重要的补偿方法。文本类型不同,翻译注释的原则也不同。采用案例研究法,以《美食译苑中文菜单英文译法》为例,研究中国菜名英译注释的原则:仅对陌生元素添加注释;注释内容应简洁且高度概括;注释内容应前后一致。菜单翻译和字幕翻译都因字数限制不宜添加文外注释,且都负有文化传播的使命,因此菜名英译注释的原则适用于字幕翻译。
In practice, annotation is an important method of compensation. Different types of text, translation of the principles of annotation are different. Using the case study method, taking the example of “English translation of Chinese menu in food court”, this paper studies the principle of English translation of Chinese dish names: adding comments only to unfamiliar elements; the contents of the notes should be concise and highly summarized; the contents of the notes should be consistent. Menu translation and subtitle translation are not limited because of the number of words to add text notes, and have a cultural mission of communication, so the principle of English translation of the title of the book applies to subtitle translation.
