The Dalingwu (Perseus β) is the second light-changing star discovered, and is also the first to discover a variable-food star. In 1670 the Italian astronomer Montanari noticed its light-altering properties. Daling Wu is usually a 2.2 star at a certain time. At a certain period of time, its luminosity will suddenly darken, and after reaching a minimum luminosity of 3.5, it will resume its normal maximum luminosity at the same rate. Its photometric change is cyclical. It is called a cycle from very small to very small. It is 2.88731 days. Because of its light-altering properties, astronomers had long thought that it could be organized by two gyrating stars. When one of the stars walks in front of the other and masks some of the starlight, the luminosity of the entire variable star will decrease, resulting in a star-gazing phenomenon.
