Objective To investigate the expression of C-met and CD147 in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and its clinical significance. Methods A total of 168 paraffin-embedded specimens from PTC and adjacent normal thyroid tissues were collected. The expressions of C-met and CD147 were detected by immunohistochemical Envision method. The relationship between them and the clinical and pathological features of PTC was analyzed. Results The positive rates of C-met and CD147 in PTC tissues were significantly higher than those in adjacent normal thyroid tissues (P <0.01). The positive expression of C-met and CD147 in PTC tissues were closely related to cervical lymph node metastasis, envelopment and muscle invasion (P <0.01), but not to age, sex, tumor size, UICC stage and vascular invasion P> 0.05). Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that the expression of C-met and CD147 in PTC tissues was positively correlated (r = 0.518, P <0.01). Conclusions Both C-met and CD147 proteins are highly expressed in PTC, both of which may participate in the evolution of PTC such as metastasis and infiltration, and are related to each other.
