Objective: To investigate the relationship between HCV infection and the expression of oncogene c-erbB-2 in hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods: Immunohistochemical SP method was used. RESULTS: The detection rates of HCV NS3 antigen in 46 cases of HCC and 38 cases of adjacent tissues were 21.7% and 34.2%, respectively. There was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Oncogene c- The detection rates of erbB-2 protein were 47.8% and 44.7%, respectively. There was no significant difference between them (P>0.05). The positive rate of c-erbB-2 protein expression in hepatocellular carcinoma was similar to that of erbB-2 protein. The patient’s HCV infection was not related (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: HCV infection is not related to the expression of c-erbB-2 protein, suggesting that the oncogenicity of HCV may not be related to the activation of c-erbB-2 oncogene.
