Bacterial preparations that can inhibit fruit tree diseases Cornell scientists use biological control measures to effectively control plant decay that causes dead fruit trees such as pears and apples. According to Professor Bell, they have screened out bacteria from a large number of microorganisms that can inhibit plant decay. The effective strain is Frwinia herbicola, which is similar to the pathogen that causes plant decay. Erwinia pastoris preparation can significantly reduce the pathogen infection in the early flowering of fruit trees. Bell believes that although it is not yet certain what mechanism Erwinia herb acts on it, it is likely to be a nutrient source necessary to destroy the growth of pathogens.
