中国近代报纸开端的《申报》十分重视对西藏的报道,对奉旨查办藏事的驻藏官员的报道成为重要内容,其中对张荫棠的报道条目众多且具有代表性.本文通过对《申报》中驻藏官员张荫棠报道的梳理与考析,归纳张荫棠筹办藏事的核心思想,考察近代媒体如何塑造驻藏官员形象,发现对张荫棠报道在前、后呈现出不同的特征,反映出清末民初西藏局势的变化,以及清政府与西藏地方关系随时势的不断变迁.
