The author used a questionnaire survey to investigate 100 medical personnel in the hospitals at both urban and rural levels in Hefei. The results show that non-cancer professional medical personnel can recognize the harm of cancer to people’s life and health, but lack understanding of the current achievements and status of cancer treatment. The misconceptions that cancer and its complications cannot be treated still affect a considerable number of medical personnel. In addition, non-cancer professional medical personnel also have insufficient understanding of the early age of onset of cancer and the limitations of cancer-assisted examinations. The authors discuss the possible consequences of these problems and the important role of non-cancerous medical professionals in cancer prevention and treatment. It is suggested that adequate attention should be given to oncology in the continuing education of medical staff and the curriculum of college students.
