The Linyi region is located in the southwest of Shanxi Province, in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, downstream of the Weihe River, depending on Taiyue in the east, Luliang in the west, Taershan and Hanxinling in the north and south, and Linfen Basin in the middle, which currently governs 14 counties in three cities. With a total area of 20,510 square kilometers, the district is located in a semi-arid and semi-humid monsoon climate zone with an average annual temperature of 8.6 to 12.6°C.
