在矿体倾角大于30°的全面法采场中,现用传统的木质结构的凿岩作业台具有严重的缺点:架设效率低,劳动强度大,二名支柱工一个班内只能准备出一台凿岩机所用的作业台;木材消耗量大。爆破前只能回收横柱等部分木料,大部分被崩入放矿漏斗中,不仅浪费了材料,使木材消耗量高达0.015(米~3/吨),而且还增加了出矿工作的困难。
