王闿运(1833—1916年),字壬秋,号湘绮,世称湘绮先生,湖南湘潭人。相传出生时,其父亲见神榜贴于门上曰:天开文运。因此以闿运为名。王氏生性狂狷,不可一世,常以帝王之学自负,尝与肃顺、曾国藩等共事,然其一生郁郁不得志,故而辞归从事著述传教,学术存后世、桃李满天下。王闿运是清末民初负有盛名的经学家、文学家和教育家。著有《湘绮楼日记》《湘绮楼文集》、《湘绮楼诗集》以及《湘军志》等。王
