《论语》作为中国文化史及哲学史上最具权威性的文献典籍之一,至今已被译成英语60余次,译者身份多样,既有西方传教士、汉学家、哲学家,也有国内学者。哲学家刘殿爵翻译的《论语》有着其它译本难以企及的销量。本研究立足于刘殿爵《论语》英译本,基于自建平行语料库用Wordsmith5.0软件对译者风格进行数据统计和定性分析,以探讨刘殿爵有别于其他译者的个性特征。
As one of the most authoritative documents in Chinese cultural history and philosophical history, The Analects of Confucius has been translated into English more than 60 times. The translators have various identities, including Western missionaries, sinologists, philosophers and domestic scholars . The “Analects of Confucius” translated by the philosopher Liu Diaojue has sales volume that is hard to match with other versions. Based on Liu’s English translation of The Analects of Confucius, this study conducts statistics and qualitative analysis of the translator’s style with Wordsmith5.0 software based on self-built parallel corpus to explore Liu’s personality characteristics different from other translators.
