韶山1型电力机车60号以下的,由于牵引电机端电压限制,调压开关又不能长时间在过渡位上停留,再加上使用磁场削弱时牵引手柄不能进退级等等限制,机车功率不能得到充分发挥。韶山1型31号电力机车采用可控硅级间调压装置后,不仅彻底解决调压开关放炮”的惯性故障,而且由于起动牵引力大,能充分发挥机车功率,起速快和平稳起动等(详见牵引试验报告)。
